We spent today at the AMAZING Tuckaway Tavern in Raymond NH. We hadn’t even unpacked yet when we were approached by some excited shoppers ready to sample! I think a few new caramel addicts were created today! It was great meeting so many French Canadians too! All who sampled were instantly reminded of their Memeres! Our caramels are the SAME recipe that has been used in the French-Canadian community for at least 100 years, so it brings everyone back to warm memories of their youth and their grandmothers. I think of mine every time I make a batch!
It was not easy to stand there all day with the glorious smells coming from the kitchen and couldn’t wait to have dinner! After an hours weight, I had my usual: the house tips with mac ‘n cheese – and a little salad to feel better about myself. 😉 If you haven’t eaten at the Tuckaway – YOU MUST! After your meal you can pass through the market place and take more food home with you. Their meats are off the hook! I’m slowly eating my way through the butcher shop…
